NFL Sunday Evening Wagering – Raiders vs Dolphins

Posted by – September 22, 2011

In Week 12 of the 2010 Football season, the Dolphins travel to Oakland to confront the Raiders over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The champ of this AFC match will get back again into the playoff race whilst the loser may wind up in a pit that is too major to dig from.

The Raiders haven’t won a game since Week 9. But there is no quarterback debate in Oakland, for now. Oakland raiders qb Bruce Gradkowski, who came off the bench to take the place of Oakland Raiders starter Jason Campbell in the Raiders 35-2 loss to the Steelers, will continue to be the backup, based on the San Francisco Chronicle.

Bruce Gradkowski was declared as the very likely starter at qb for this matchup in what would be the 2nd time this year that Jason Campbell has lost the position.  Neither Quarterback has stood out this year and both are ranked lower than 75.0 on the Qb rating charts.

Darren McFadden has been the top offensive weapon with 771 yards and a 5.2 yards per carry average.  Oakland rates 12th in offensive scoring and also 18th for points permitted.

As for the Miami Dolphins, they are questioning Jake Long’s health. Jake Long tried to play through a shoulder injury Thursday night, but he had trouble majorly, uncharacteristically permitting 3 sacks. That has led the Miami Dolphins to consider shutting down their Pro Bowl left tackle for the year, a squad source informed the South Florida Sun Sentinel on Friday.

The Miami Dolphins defense has powerful versus the pass and average against the run this year. The defense is giving up an average of 315 yards of total offense per game though their pass defense has been the top facet of their match in sports gambling.

On the edges the Miami Dolphins have been outstanding by keeping enemy offenses from cashing in on major plays and merely permitting 200 yards passing per game. Their run defense is permitting an average of 110 yards per game and the inclusion of Karlos Dansby has bulked up their middle pass defense and he has helped out against the run as well at the sportsbook.

Jason Campbell and the Oakland raiders offense have performed well in bursts this year, however against the Pittsburgh steelers defense they were taken down like lambs. The Oakland raiders running game has been their bread and butter and their running game is number 1 in football averaging 160 yards plus per match. The Pittsburgh steelers shut down Darren McFadden and company in their match and the passing game folded together with it. The Raiders offense has the edge over the Dolphins defense.

Nobody understands for certain who will be under center for the Dolphins but the supposition is that Tyler Thigpen is going to have an additional shot to take on the function. Thigpen had an dreadful game against one of the better defenses in the NFL, the Bears.

Thigpen will get 10 days of practice with the 1st team offense and this should help him improve for this match. He has weapons on this squad such as Ronnie Brown and Brandon Marshall, it will just be a matter of getting the ball to him.
